Persian Carpet is Thread Bare

Before I attend to my responsibilities over Easter may I commend an animation completed within the 14 hour time limits for our GCSE examination. Three students combined their talents and came up with this absolute gem: Thread Bare. The theme was Persian Carpet and most students used the flying carpet as their storyline. However Matthew Howard, Anthony Smith and Jonathan Scott experimented and came up with this pretty stunning end result. With the exception of a rather wordy explanation for a moment or two, the movie is a brief history of mankind told in a manner sympathetic to the theme. It's almost all done frame by frame and has a shimmering, mobile quality to it. All the boys are artists and could take animation further into their careers. I do so love it when my students do the unexpected. As I say, I commend it to you.
