My review for Short of the Week is a piece by Julian Grey from Toronto's Head Gear. To synchronise enjoy four humorous ads, a series in fact, by Julian for Detroit Institute of Arts. Sparingly sketched the quartet are decidedly in keeping with the rather cultural brief, witty and sophisticated with it. Thinker has our man transported from his daytime job by a poster advertising an exhibition on Rodin. Before he can click his Biro he is touring the museum, twisting his head to make sense of the canvas. Hatman was selected for official competition at Annecy 2008. It was so good it spawned a Son of Hatman as in real son. This guy tends to morph into whatever he sees as does his son. The paired screengrabs show the response of the boy to a view of men at work. Flower Woman meanwhile introduces a little colour as our girl takes a walk through an art gallery.
